Karen Blumenthal

Author of Hillary Rodham ClintonTommy: The Gun That Changed America, Steve Jobs: The Man Who Thought Different, Let Me Play, Mr. Sam, Bootleg, and Six Days in October

Bio: As a long-time journalist, Karen writes nonfiction for young people with the belief that nonfiction brings context to a complicated world. She is particularly fascinated by social change, how it happens and why. When she is not reporting, writing or researching, Karen likes to bake, needlepoint, read and cheer loudly for the Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Duke Blue Devils and the Texas Rangers. As a true believer in the power of reading, she is on the boards of Friends of the Dallas Public Library and First Book-Dallas, which provides new books to kids who wouldn’t otherwise have them. Karen and her husband have two daughters, now in their 20s, and live in Dallas. But they have found that reading and writing can take them almost anywhere they want to go.
